First here is the morning briefing from our captain:

Info: About 60M to go. Lots of early AM squalls but not too bad. Seems to be settling for a nice last few hours sail until rum punch
All good on board. Making enough water so we can all shower and not be over-ripe on arrival 🙂
Yesterday was a tough day—we certainly earned our keep. The parasailor went up and down twice, with a few gybes in between. The shifting winds and scattered squalls kept us busy. The evidence is clear: Jolanda’s legs are sporting a few more bruises, and the parasailor’s sock has some fresh tears.
The boat ahead of us took a gamble by heading much farther south, and it paid off, increasing the gap between us. The weather forecasts during this trip have been practically useless. A simple “general winds from the east with chances of squalls” would have been far more helpful.
We’re just grateful that both we and the boat are still in one piece, and we’re crossing our fingers it stays that way for the final 50 miles.
We were told this is the kind of race where you hoist the parasailor at the start, grab a good book, and then take it down when you arrive. That has definitely not been our experience!
