Info: no squalls but up to 30 kts in the night. Looks like something building behind us now though!! Swell cleaned up a little so nice sailing weather! All well on board!!
We’re down to the final 200 nautical miles to the finish line. Currently, we’re in 3rd place, but the boat in 2nd place (Coconut) has a higher handicap and seems to have done more motoring (or so we suspect). The boat behind us (Asja) is 70 nautical miles back, so the real battle is for 2nd place. As for 1st place, they’re well ahead and in a league of their own. Overall, we’re just outside the top 10 (not including handicap and motoring).
If the wind holds, we should arrive tomorrow afternoon.
Last night was rough again, especially as the wind died down, making the boat increasingly unstable and rocking from one side to the other. Moving around the boat, cooking, or taking a shower has become incredibly challenging, and we’ve picked up a few more bruises along the way.
This morning, we hoisted the parasailor, but within an hour, we had to bring it down due to a squall trailing us. We’re eagerly anticipating the finish line—we can almost smell the rum already!
