First half of 2025

Time has flown by, and I just realized it’s been a while since I last updated the blog. The first half of 2025 wasn’t packed with grand adventures as we were still recovering from the Atlantic crossing, but there were some beautiful moments worth sharing.

We kicked off the New Year in style with a morning run through the charming (and slightly croissant-scented) streets of Paris. While there, we caught up with our wonderful friends Sabrina and Alex — and were thoroughly out-energized by their kids, Lucas and Natalie.

Next stop: the Swiss Alps! We traded city cobblestones for snowy peaks and teamed up with Jolanda’s sister Karin and her boyfriend for some alpine adventures. Things got especially serious when we went sledding with our friend Thomas — let’s just say, no records were broken, but a lot of snowbanks were hit.

After returning, we had a delightful dinner at Ewa and Bill’s place in the city. The only thing missing was their lovable Labrador, who was still enjoying an extended holiday up North.

In April we went on a camping trip to Long Island staying at The Better Man Distillery for two nights and expored the area.

Finally we did some Home Improvement to sort out our storage room.

Birthday Party with Pam and Ellen in Jersey City. Unfortunately the big birthday baloon ended up in the ceiling fan.

I went one-wheel riding with my friend Mufti and also jumped into a Sunfish regatta at Deer Lake. The winter frostbiting season definitely kept me on my toes — and on the water — through the colder months.

Jolanda had a few business trips to Las Vegas and California, and luckily managed to squeeze in some hiking — with me, with friends, and sometimes just enjoying the trails on her own.

And finally, the sailing season kicked off — with a splash! Jolanda’s team sailed strong and landed on the podium in the very first race of the season.

Our neighbor Doug (The Dude) and I were practicing our Ukulele skills.

After a fire on a neighboring boat, we sadly had to say goodbye to Daniel — one of the truly great people we were fortunate to meet at our marina.
