We had an amazing time in Cape Verde, exploring the island and taking in all it had to offer. I’ll share more details in upcoming posts. For now, I’m thrilled to share that after factoring in motoring and handicaps, we secured 2nd place in our division and 8th overall—a fantastic achievement!
Most of the crew experienced some level of illness during the week, but thankfully it passed within 1-2 days. We were fortunate to avoid major repairs on the boat, unlike some others. The dents were patched on the keel and we replaced a few lines, and that was all.
After a week, we were eager to set off on the long 2,200 NM leg to Grenada. The weather was excellent, and shortly after crossing the starting line, we were able to fly the parasailor until the wind dropped. We only had to motor for about 45 minutes before finding wind again, so it looks promising for the night ahead.
Overall, the trade winds are forecasted to be slightly weaker than expected, as the high over the Azores has shifted further north. Hopefully, it will move back down in the coming days, allowing us to stay on schedule. Based on current conditions, we estimate reaching Grenada in about 12 days.
