ARC+ Day 3 – another nice sailing day

First here is the morning briefing from our captain:

Boat Name: Isabel
Position: N21’30 W020’45
Wind: NE 16-22 kts
Sea State: 2.0M Swell
Info: Now on Stbd gybe
Poled out Genoa & main for the time being…. All well on board!

We made our first gybe since starting, with the wind shifting around, so we have to be cautious not to put too much strain on the sails. Unfortunately, today brought another unsuccessful attempt at hoisting the parasailor, but we’re doing plenty of research and continuing to practice. We’ve dropped a few spots overall but are still holding onto 2nd place in our division, trailing only the X-Yacht racing boat. This morning, we discovered some flying fish on deck, but unfortunately, we were too late to save them.

Jolanda took the helm and worked the bow today, clearly enjoying herself. Unfortunately, thanks to Starlink, she still has phone service, and customers keep calling her, so we’re not quite as off the grid as we had hoped.

If we can maintain our speed, we should reach our stopover in Cape Verde by Friday morning. Fingers crossed!
